Play Playstation 1 (PSX) Games on Your Android Device using ePSXe APK

Playstation 1 or PSX or PSone is a game console owned by Sony Inc. It is very popular in the years of 2000's. But with fast progress of technology now, we can play and nostalgic or try the Playstation's games for you who never "feel it" how is the first generation of Playstation, on our Android devices using PSX emulators. And my opinion, the best PSX emulator is ePSXe.

I think ePSXe is the best because the user friendly interface. Even a newbie can easily mastered it. ePSXe apk is have great games compatibility (> 99%), it can run every PSX game with very fast or with enhanced rendering HD graphic. It is also have inbuilt cheats feature and compatible with many controllers. And also we can play multiplayer with our friend via local net or play on same device by splitting the screen.

To play Playstation games using emulators on your Android smartphones, we need a BIOS file first (you can dump it from your own Playstation or download at the end of post) and the game itself of course. The games format that are used is .iso or .bin. You can dump your own Playstation games into an iso file (search how to do it on Google). Or you can download the ready-to-play PSX iso games from many websites and gaming community nowadays.

How to Play PS1 / PSX Games on your Android device using ePSXe apk emulators

1. Download and install app ePSXe.apk.
2. Download and extract or prepare the BIOS file zip, inside it you will find the "SCPH1001.BIN" and other file, copy the files to SdCard/epsxe/bios/
3. Prepare the game. Remember it must a PSX / PS1 / PSOne game with .bin or .iso file format.
4. Open the ePSXe app, Tap "Run Game", and tap the circle arrow icon to scan all available PSX games on your device storage. You can also turn on your internet connection when in the game list to let ePSXe automatically download the game cover. Ready to Play!

How to enhance the PSX game graphic with GPU Plugins setting

1. Go to the ePSXe settings menu "Preferences" -> "Video renderer", change to "Opengl plugin (smoother)".
2. Scroll down and see the "Gpu Plugin" option, and then tap the down arrow icon to download the latest GPU plugin, make sure the GPU plugin has been set to the latest we just downloaded.
3. Now play the game and feel the difference :D. When play, tap your device menu button or back button to open the menu -> "Toggle GL config", now there you can experiment with the OpenGL settings to get best graphic and 3D enhanced graphic.
4. This OpenGL plugins setting definitely will increase the graphic quality especially the 3D games. Maybe the result will be different based on our device GPU too, screenshot taken with MALI-400MP GPU device.
