How to Play PSP Games on Your Android Device using PPSSPP Emulator App APK

PSP (Playstation Portable) is a handheld gaming system created by Sony Corporation and it's very famous in the middle of first decade of years 2000. If we look from graphic and gameplay, it is very similiar to Playstation 2. But today with the advance of gadget and device now, we can easily play PSP's game on our computer or even mobile devices with an emulator app / software called PPSSPP.

This PPSSPP emulator is available on mobile devices on system operations Android, iOS, and Symbian. For this time I only talk about PPSSPP on Android as Android is the most popular mobile device used today. PPSSPP is an open source project, so everyone can make a contribution to the PPSSPP app. But for we that don't know anything about programming, we can also make a support to the project by buying PPSSPP GOLD version on Playstore.

PPSSPP is very great alternatif gaming on your Android mobile device for you who are gaming freak as it games provide you with good graphic (similar to PS2) and long hour gameplay because besides the new one, there is also many games that ported directly from Playstation 2. So with only one game can make you busy for days or even months (not like Android game that usually is fast to completed). PPSSPP usually can also run PSP games on low-end Android devices because the one that will overload the device is not PPSSPP itself, but the game. So if you have low end Android device like me, just reduce the graphic quality setting in the PPSSPP.

How to play PSP games on your Android device using PPSSPP emulator app:

- Download and install the newest PPSSPP app. You can find it at Playstore or you can download the apk below and install it manually (don't afraid 'cause i will always update it because i am very big fan of PPSSPP).

- The PSP games that used to play on PPSSPP MUST come from .iso or .cso format. Google it to find how to turn your own PSP games into an ISO. Or you can search on Google for played-ready ISO PSP games.

- To make it easy for you who are beginner, make a folder in your sdcard called "PSP GAME" and save all your .iso (or .cso) psp games into that folder.

- After you have the iso PSP game file, open your installed PPSSPP app and tap on "games". Search the directory / folder where you put all of your PSP game, choose the game and play it, bam!

How to stabilize the PPSSPP performance

- Use PPSSPP default setting

- Go to Graphic setting:
* Set the "Rendering resolution" and "Display resolution" to 1x psp
* Change "Mode" to Buffered rendering
* Change "Frameskipping" to 1
* Check "Auto frameskip"

How to faster your gaming on PPSSPP

- Conserves RAM and CPU. Emulate the PSP games need a very huge resources. Make sure you have > 150 MB empty RAM space, turn off your internet connection, and close other application while playing game on PPSSPP. Or you might want to reboot / restart your Android device first to get optimal resources conserved before playing.

- Go to "Graphic" setting:
* Change "Mode" to Non Buffered Rendering (not recommended for light game or some heavy games)
* Change "Frameskipping" to 1 or 2 (higher frameskipping make worse gaming experience :p )
* Change the "Display resolution" resolution to 1x PSP.
* Check: "lazy texture caching", "retain changed texture", "disable slower effect", "texture coord speedhack".

- Go to "System" setting:
* Check "Fast memory (unstable)".
* Check "Multithread (experimental)". Caution this is experimental feature.

- Change virtual controller skin to "thin border" (if you use virtual controller).

How to improve the PPSSPP games graphic into HD

- Go to "Graphic" setting:
* Change "Mode" to Buffered Rendering
* Change "Rendering resolution" = 2x psp or 3x psp (you can increase more, decrease speed)
* Change "Display resolution" = same as rendering resolution

This settings will decrease the gaming speed and performance, depends on the device hardware quality.

Because there are so many type of games on PSP, your experiment and knowledge is very needed to make the right setting so you can get the optimal quality and performance when playing PSP game on PPSSPP emulator.
